Welcome folks to our 23rd annual Country Bluegrass Jamboree. It’s always an honour to kick off the festival season, to see your familiar faces, smile n’ say ‘hi’, shake hands, give a ‘hug or two’ to old friends as well as new. The friendships we forge this weekend are the most precious, heartfelt feelings of friends who share a common bond. Musicians enjoying performing for their audience and they in turn enjoy listening as well as “kicking up their heels” to the wonderful music.
To all those who are attending for the first time and have in the past desired to attend Quesnel’s season opener, it is ever so nice that you are here this year to experience our hospitality and the wonderful entertainment we have lined up for you. That you may sit back and enjoy or escort your ‘hon’ to the dance floor, especially if you haven’t ‘tripped the light fantastic’ for a few years and this is the ‘golden opportunity’ to do so.
This year our evening ‘bandscramble’ will be held on Friday evening and it is the last event for Friday, starting at 9pm. The bandscramble is open to any musician in attendance, not just the folks who are entertaining on stage, its just a matter of signing up on the list on Friday. Then Ellaine and Marion will put all the names in a hat and draw out the bands. Just the names of some bands alone are good for a few chuckles. At times things get a little bizarre on stage or during the bandscramble, the laughter nearly shakes the building. A most entertaining way to wind down Friday evening.
Our pancake breakfast starts at 7:30am Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings as well on Saturday mornings there will be a breakfast buffet. During the day the concession will be open for hamburgers, sandwiches and other ‘goodies’.
